MEET ZAZIE

Hand-painted fabrics designer and interior decorator.

“I can say I am an autodidact, I never attended any painting or design school, I started using brushes and colors on fabrics when I was around 10, and since then, I never stopped, turning a childish passion into my profession. After graduating in communications in Paris, I returned to Rome and founded my brand, “Zazielab”. My personal creative lab of colors and fabrics in a very special spot of Rome, Trastevere, where I still have my atelier…I was 21.

I only use organic fabrics such as pure linen, cotton, or silk, and my patterns are all exclusively geometrical. I can say that is my signature, together with the use of a large scale of hues and shades of colors, all I want and all I can realize by mixing the primary colors, inventing hundreds of others.”

Nestled in the heart of Trastevere

In a converted warehouse for building materials, the atelier has evolved into a studio devoted to craftsmanship.

Zazie shares this beautiful studio and garden with her mother and aunt, who also design and produce their creations exclusively in Italy with artisanal techniques.

Architectural details of the former space have been conserved, preserving the original character. Vast windows provide ample natural light, vital to the artisanal practice, and look out onto the verdant garden. Here each piece begins its life, transforming from plain fabric to one-of-a-kind beneath Zazie’s paintbrush.
